S.A.F.E. EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Trauma Treatment

Welcome!

There are many different reasons a person may experience trauma, but the underlying factor is the toll it takes on your everyday life and relationships. Trauma can be related to a single incident (such as a vehicle accident) or it can be complex, where there have been layers of relational difficulties, abuses, or grief.

S.A.F.E. EMDR is an evidence-based and non-intrusive trauma treatment that can relive trauma symptoms in as little as 2-3 reprocessing sessions. The mechanics behind EMDR involve bilateral stimulation (BLS), which simply means alternating between the two hemispheres of the brain through the use of sounds, tapping, or eye-movements. During BLS your therapist will gently support your brain’s natural ability to process a traumatic memory, which allows for the memory to be reprocessed (properly digested) giving way to symptom relief.

Your sense of physical and emotional safety throughout this process is our first priority. S.A.F.E. EMDR is the Somatic And Attachment focus we are able to provide throughout the EMDR process. This way we are able to take into consideration the early experiences and built in trauma responses you may have developed so we can work safely with them, rather than against them. We understand that trauma is a highly delicate experience. We utilize a variety of safety resources to promote a strong foundation to support the work you will do alongside your therapist.

EMDR is considered effective for a variety of concerns including:

  • PTSD

  • Phobias

  • Panic Attacks

  • Anxiety Disorders

  • Stress

  • Abuse

  • Grief

  • Addictions
