  • Cassia Tayler, Registered Provisional Psychologist

    Counsellor, Director

    You Matter:

I understand from personal experience that seeking help can feel daunting, so it’s important to me that you feel supported in every step of the process. I strive to create a non-judgmental, respectful, and collaborative environment in which we can work together to explore your concerns, identify the changes you’d like to see, determine how best to reach your goals, and achieve holistic wellness. This means considering the things that make you, you: the physical, emotional, mental, social, spiritual, and cultural parts of your life.

    My Values and Approach:

I work with adults, couples, and adolescents, and use an integrative, trauma-informed, and person-centered approach to therapy in order to suit the needs of each unique client. This means that I am committed to using the evidence-based approach that is best-suited to you. I value your feedback and want you to feel like you have a say in the process - because you do. My approach often includes elements of Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, and Gestalt Therapy. I am dedicated to developing a strong therapeutic relationship with you that is built on mutual respect, honesty, cultural sensitivity, and openness.

    The Goal:

Together, we will walk towards becoming conscious of unhelpful thought and behaviour patterns that may be interfering with your wellness, towards rediscovering the person you are and who you want to be, towards discovering your strengths, and towards equipping you with the skills and tools to create lasting positive change.

    Qualifications:

Cassia is a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists, and is a member of the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada. • Chanae Smith, R. Psych.

    Counsellor, Director

    You Matter:

Perhaps you are at the very beginning of your therapeutic journey, or maybe you have tried counselling before and feel like it’s time to return. Either way, looking for the right therapist can be challenging, if not exhausting. I too have been a client and understand the importance of a compassionate approach and sensitivity to the process that unfolds. Having a therapist who will listen is important, but a therapist who works to understand you so you can better understand yourself, is key. Should we find ourselves sitting with one another, I will work alongside you to define, understand, and pursue your personal goals.

    My Values:

I value the inherent worth of all people and strive to develop safety and security in the counselling relationship so we can work together to efficiently meet your needs. It is my job to meet you where you are at and work at your pace. I aim to emphasize your strengths to help equip you with practical tools and ways of navigating difficult circumstances or unhelpful patterns of behaviour. Regardless of whom I am working with, I believe lasting improvement requires conscious awareness of the whole person that you are. I will take into consideration the physical, mental/emotional, social, spiritual, and cultural aspects of your life.

    Type of Counselling:

I work with children, adolescents and adults. My approach is integrative, which means I use more than one method to understand and address your needs. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), attachment theory, and interpersonal neurobiology (a brain-based model) are woven into the fabric of how I work. In my work with children, adolescents and their caregivers I use art and play as a way of both learning about your child as well as providing a platform for healing to occur. With adults, I typically use talk therapy and experiential methods. As the client, your needs direct the therapeutic process.

    Qualifications:

Chanae is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists, and is a member of the Psychologists Association of Alberta. With training in areas such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Theraplay Level 1, attachment theory, the neuroscientific perspective, trauma, and intercultural issues, Chanae is equipped to work with both children and adults, and is willing to help you navigate through some of life’s most challenging issues
